Love love this car! Out of the big three (Mustang, Camaro & Challenger), this bad boy just oozes old school cool. Where the Mustang and Camaro have taken design elements from past models, the designers at Dodge cleaned up the lines from the old car, added new front and rear head lights for functionality, designed a new front bar to match and off to the factory it went and we thank them for that.
Body portions are plentiful contradicted by its interior space that only just manages to sit 4 adults. However, its a comfy interior with all modern day luxury tech one expects. The drive from LA to Vegas is 3 hours and by the end of it, we got out still feeling fresh. It was comfy and just firm enough to that it didn't feel like we riding on a cloud. The 8-speed auto box works well but has nothing on its European or Japanese counterpart. In auto it's perfect but the manual Tiptronic is pointless if anything gimmicky. The Hemi 6.4L V8 has a mountain of torque that pulls like a freight train and has no problem cruising in 3 digit m/ph ( do the maths, =P ).
What dodge has created is a car that allows chumps like us, who is after the muscle car experience without the expense, skills or time required for a 100K restoration project. Its big boy that doesn't make any sense, but we love it, and that's what muscle cars are really all about.
John: You get the same attention as if you were driving a Ferrari without the "tool" stigma attached, having such an aggressive stance with its muscle car reputation (being a badass) people just kind of get out the way for you, and if they don't, you put your foot down and blast past them, lol. It's not a touge monster or track car- there are Porches and light weight cars like the MX5, S2000 and BRZ/GT86 for that, but on the open roads, or in the states where motorways makeup for the majority of the road network, it makes sense. Sometimes all you want to do is sit back, put it in drive, play a solid tune- loud and watch the world pass you by- it's like wearing your favorite black leather jacket, it will never get old and will be forever cool.
